Review: My daughter loves this story. Just before christmas she starred in her dance schools production of Coppelia. So when she got the book for Christmas and daddy read it to her, she was excited that it was about Coppelia.

Review: The theme of this series is Poppy is a rather jumped up little brat, a bit spoiled. That's fine, and she usually gets her comeuppance, although the grovelling she ends up having to do is a little overdone in a number of the books. In this particular book it's served up in rather an odd fashion. She seems to be a regular at ballet, and quite good at it too. On the day of casting for a show she brings along a mate for the ride. Her friend ends up getting the main part in the show. Understandably poor old Poppy is a bit peed off with the way things went. She put in the work, she seems to be a good dancer, and yet her mate just gets the main role off the street. If that isn't a legitimate thing to be annoyed about then what is? Her mate doesn't have the self awareness to go, you know, I really don't deserve this, but there is no comment on that. Anyway, the mate then takes 'ill' ahead of the performance. Poppy comes around and gives her a pep talk and, well what do you know, all of a sudden she's fit to dance, and the lead role again no less! It's a miracle! Poor Poppy gets no support from her family and is expected to suck up a blatant injustice with a fake smile plastered on. Really not a nice book. We get great enjoyment reading it with our girls though, as we boo the mate every time her name is mentioned.
