Review: I loved all the books so far with Becky but this one didn’t feel right. It was hard to read yeah had funny moments but to predictable! The whole LA thing was silly, and how can she afford all this stuff and Luke not know. Let’s hope for a better read next time or call it a day with shopaholic.

Review: Such a disappointment. I actually felt angry on finishing this book, and cheated by the whole thing. I've been a fan of the Shopaholic series since the beginning, although I've always found Becky a difficult and frustrating heroine with her selfish tendencies. But she has always redeemed herself and the stories themselves have been good. But not this one. This time round, Becky becomes effectively a parody of herself. She is unbelievably selfish and shallow, obsessed with fame, and completely loses touch with all the things that redeemed her before - the genuine love and affection for her friends and family. Apart from the central storyline, the subplots involving Suze, Tarquin and Graham Bloomwood are totally bizarre; there's no explanation and no real context for you to understand or even really care what is going on with these other characters. This is left on a cliffhanger which is clearly there to entice you to read the next book and this I find completely odd - as if SK has been sucked into the obnoxious Hollywood tactic of splitting a single book into two films - but two books in this case. There's no conclusion, the book simply ends - I didn't realise I was even near the end and suddenly I was on the last sentence. I don't know if this was just particularly bad, or if I've just had enough of Becky and this series. She has no character development; marriage and motherhood hasn't changed her and it feels like SK is just carrying on churning them out for money now, with no real direction. The only likeable character in this one is Luke, and he feels like a background plot device. He's a saint to put up with her though. The real skill would be to have Becky grow up a bit but still retain her character - but I think if not, then for me it might be time to say goodbye to her, as I can't read another book like this one - it would spoil the whole series for me,
