Description: The new collection of poetry and prose from the Ted Hughes Award-winning author of Nobody Told Me. From Finnish saunas and soppy otters to grief, grandparents and Kellogg's anti-masturbation pants, Slug is a book which holds a mirror lovingly up to the world, past and present, through Hollie's driving, funny, hopeful poetry and prose. Slug is about the human condition: of birth and death and how we manage the possibilities in-between.

Review: I've been reading this on and off for the last few months. I have to keep picking it up and putting it back down again, as it moves me, angers me, saddens me, makes me laugh. I don't think I have the emotional capacity to read this in one sitting. The book itself is a collection of all sorts of odds and ends. Poetry, short stories, essays, even just some rambling. On topics ranging from the Birth of her daughter, to the death of her grandmother. On what parts are the vagina, and what the vulva. On Masturbation and periods. On Family and Friendship. On life itself. I don't think theres anything she doesn't touch. There are occasions it gets a little repetitive, and there are occasions where I don't necessarily agree with her, but even then she makes me think. Makes me examine my own thoughts. It's proof that it's possible to be a feminist and not be misandrist. It's proof that good art has the ability to make you feel and make you think

Review: I’m sure the book itself is great (yet to read it but love the author) but very dissatisfied that I have now received two damaged books with cardboard adhered tot eg cover in both instances, sent separately though
