Review: Can't fault the story, it's engrossing and keeps the reader's interest, even it it is a touch predicatable. But in places the writing was amateurish and speech dominated. It was almost like reading a student's GCSE essay. Also, little more attention to detail, particularly the terminology of the period, would not go amiss. I hardly think a lady of the 1860's would say she was 'done in' nor would there be a reference to 'drugs', rather it would have been medicine. A bit too Mills and Boon for me.
