Review: My 13 yr old daughter and I read this together. We are fans of mysterious Benedict society and books such as those. This was mildly amusing but had a lot to detract from it. First, it's not smart enough for kids who like these kind of mysteries. It's all very predictable. Second, all of the main characters are quite mean to each other...realistic in some senses maybe but not entertaining. Third, it's just very one note. The dialogue is repetitive and uninteresting and while they visit some really fun places they aren't described with any kind of color or richness. And last, this is too violent for younger readers who might not need all of the previous things that I mentioned are lacking from the book. The book starts out with a unique, fun style at the beginning, but quickly loses that quirkiness. Not a terrible book, but there are others in this genre out there that are much better.
