Review: It is interesting to have a fantasy that looks at the grittier side of society and has darker characters. There were some really interesting elements here and the world was well thought out. The jumping between times could be a little confusing at times and often interrupted the flow of the story but it was interesting to see backstories and understand how characters came to be the way that they are. I honestly feel like for people who love darker fantasies that this will be a 5 star book but for me personally, I sometimes found it a bit slow.
