Description: Mindful Awareness is a widely used stress-reduction technique that works by enabling people to pay closer attention to what is happening within them - thoughts, feelings, emotions - so that they can better understand what is happening to them. In The Mindful Child, Susan Kaiser Greenland extends her internationally known program to children, showing how they can be taught to be kinder and more compassionate to themselves and others.

Review: This book is a wonderful place to start for anyone interested in mindfulness with children. Presented in an informative yet not at all patronising way it touches on aspects of science & evidence-based research but primarily serves as a practical guide to introducing children to mindfulness. The book contains several exercises covering different aspects of a mindfulness way of being that I can imagine incorporating into a classroom setting and with children at home. A Recommended read!

Review: An interesting book with some nice ideas but little information on how I can actually help my child be more mindful. I picked this book up with a pile of others when I realised I was lost, moving at breakneck but getting nowhere and worse that I was dragging my 4 year old with me, maybe if I'd practiced mindfulness first I could have focused look enough the find the wisdom in this book, as it was I picked it up about a year ago, abandoned it twice and only just finished having forgot the start. This book can help deepen exciting knowledge but is not a good starting point.
