Review: The book is beautifully presented and the content is digestible, providing insight into an industry that has rapidly changed in the last 10 years. Victoria has attempted to maintain accessibility by providing an in-depth review of the industry that is visually stunning and that avoids language that is overly academic or dominated by business/marketing jargon. I agree that there was some repetition, however I felt that this synthesised the discussions in the book and presented a well-balanced view of an industry whose business focus has had to evolve rapidly with the explosion of digital marketing and social media. Business literature can be somewhat dry, complex or egotistical, so it was a pleasant surprise to find this no only enjoyable but also a comfortable read. Victoria's knowledge and passion for the industry, as well as her attention to detail, really make this more than just another fashion coffee-table book. My partner has been reading The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuck and we have been able draw parallels between the shifting face of business and the ongoing evolution of the global fashion industry. This is a great, accessible read for any one interested in the afshion business in the digital age.

Review: I’ve been a fan of Victoria for a while now, so I was eager to get my hands on her book. I love her YouTube channel and I frequently read her blog, so I’m used to her content and style. Firstly, the title is a little misleading - the book features a series of important moments in fashion, selected by Victoria. They’re not in chronological order, but collated in sections such as ‘be accessible’ and ‘be social’. I think I would have preferred them to be in date order, but the ‘moments’ are interesting and relevant, and Victoria has clearly put a lot of thought and time into researching them. There is one major flaw to the book - the editing. There is a lot of repetition in the phrasing and choice of vocabulary which really should have been sniffed out by her editor. ‘Ubiquitous’ comes up a lot (the irony!), as does ‘gal’, ‘other half’ and ‘pure-play’ (which isn’t even explained until it has been used about 4 or 5 times). It means the writing style is slightly clunky and, on more than one occasion, it distracted me from processing the topic in hand. This really isn’t Victoria’s fault though. I also didn’t like the font...which seems like a small thing, but ‘g’ looks like an 8 and I found it a bit irritating! All in all, I found the book really interesting but I’m slightly disappointed it wasn’t as perfect as the outputs Victoria and Alex produce for Inthefrow on a daily basis.
