Review: My children loved the Princess and the Giant so I bought this one and the Shoes story. Neither are as good. This story has a really questionable storyline - the child is a brat who doesn’t really learn her lesson... she thinks her father is dead for some time which is a bit of an extreme theme for a childrens book, and then realised she’d rather he be alive than have some presents. Right. The end of the story is crying out for a stanza at least describing how the princess perhaps shared all her excess toys with other children but there’s nothing. I’ve actually written one myself in the book because it felt like such a glaring omission.
