Description: Discover Vice President-elect Kamala Harris's New York Times bestselling book about the core truths that unite us and the shared values that will see us into the future. The daughter of immigrants and civil rights activists, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris was raised in a California community that cared deeply about social justice. As she rose to prominence as a political leader, her experiences would become her guiding light as she grappled with an array of complex issues and learned to bring a voice to the voiceless. Now, in The Truths We Hold, Harris reckons with the big challenges we face together. Drawing on the hard-won wisdom and insight from her own career and the work of those who have most inspired her, she communicates a vision of shared struggle, shared purpose, and shared values as we confront the great work of our day.

Review: This is a genuine review from a purchaser & reader. Gosh this is one very smart lady!! And this book is a real eye-opener for the way it is in the USA right now. I love what she says and what she is trying to do and has tried to do to help the underbelly of the richest country in the world's underclass. And the divide between those who have and those who have not could not be more poignantly presented. In some ways, the book is a bit of bare truthed horror. In other ways, it offers hope from someone who cares deeply and who is now in a position of power and authority to at least try to change things. There is every chance that she will succeed to the throne of power as America's first woman President and black at that, given Biden's health. Four years is a long stretch but, as we know, power does not really belong to POTUS. It rests with Congress whose eyes are not on the welfare of the people as much as they are on share prices and Wall Street. This book tells it the way she sees it and has had to deal with it to become the most powerful woman in American politics. Read it. You'll be educated and amazed in equal measure. I certainly was.

Review: While this was an interesting read, it was more of a political manifesto than the personal autobiography I expected. So, I learnt a lot, particularly how to pronounce her name (Comma-La) yet finished disappointed that I didn't get more 'Kamala'. 3 stars
