Review: I think this book is intended for kids who like art but are not keen on maths, as a way of shoeing that maths can be fun and beautiful. The opposite it true of my son (age 9) who loves maths but is reluctant to take part in art activities and lacks confidence with art techniques. He was thrilled with this book and amazed by the beautiful patterns we've made using maths equipment. We have sat together for an hour at a time doing the activities side by side and its been lovely, calm and also good for kids who like mindfulness activities. Its useful to have some extra squared paper, not a requirement but we can produce a lot more pictures and patterns that way and we've also been extending the activities by experimenting our own ideas on squared paper once we've done an activity in the book. There are pages of squared and triangular printed sheets at the back of the book but not many so I'd suggest photocopying them or buying some extra. You'll also need a pair of compasses and a protractor. Really pleased with this. Would suit a wide range of ages from about 7 ish to adult (ability to use a pair of compasses and a ruler quite well to get the right result).

Review: This is a brilliant book which can attract different users. Firstly it's not just for kids. Adults and teens might find the exercises incredibly enjoyable and fun too! Although maths is not evident on the exercises through numbers and formulae, it surely prepares the mind to observe the world through maths eyes. My son, who was never keen on either maths or art at school definitely enjoys it. Because the book is not aimed at a specific age, some exercises might be a bit difficult for some children, but because this is real life maths they might still enjoy the activities with a little adult help.
