Review: I love Jennifer Donnelly books and this is no exception.

Review: I was intrigued by the title and with the characters being mermaids, and just had to read this first novel in a new mystical and enchanting series aimed at young teens. Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnelly on behalf of Disney ticks all the boxes beautifully in what is simply a Harry Potter equivalent for young girls and pre-teens and is perfectly aimed at that market. It's beautifully written, paced, with interesting and believable characters and I could easily visualise all that happens within the realms under the sea. I am eagerly looking forward to book 2 Rogue Wave. The Waterfire Saga would make a great new fantasy film series.

Behind Deep Blue tells the inside story of the quest to create the mother of all chess machines and what happened at the two historic Deep Blue vs. Kasparov matches. Feng-hsiung Hsu, the system architect of Deep Blue, reveals how a modest student project started at Carnegie Mellon in 1985 led to the production of a multimillion-dollar supercomputer.
