Review: This book is absolutely brilliant for therapists wanting to improve their understanding of the Schema Therapy mode model and how to work with each mode. It is very up-to-date compared to previous Schema Therapy books. It has the latest, most clear definitions of modes and best guidance (based on more recent research and clinician's experience)on flexibly and effectively working with the modes. However, in my view, this is not the right book to buy if you are new to schema therapy. In such a case you might end up more confused rather than enlightened. If you are new to Schema therapy I would suggest you start with Young's 'Schema Therapy; a practitioner's guide'. You will get the full picture and basics of Schema Therapy and then you will be in a much better position to completely appreciate this book.
