Review: Having watched the anime adaptation I already had a good understanding of the story line, but I have very much enjoyed reading the series and can't wait for when the next volume is translated! The books give a better understanding of the background of Tanya's actions and those of her superiors which I really enjoyed. I also love the reference to historical figures and battles as a but of a history nerd. The translations are alsp much better and make much more sense than some other light novel series that I've read. I feel this may be in part down to the European esque setting which rids the story of often mistranslated japanes cultural references.

Review: The concept is brilliant and there are nuggets of good writing. The author just doesn't seem to know how to put it all together in a narrative that flows.
