Review: When I was a child, a few of my favourite stories were 'Dogger' and the Alfie series. This book includes 'Dogger,' and 'Alfie Gives a Hand,' which are the two stories I remember very fondly. The book starts off with simple rhymes and a story aimed at preschool-aged children before progressing on to stories for older readers. My favourite stories and rhymes in the book are 'Bathwater's Hot,' 'Dogger,' 'Alfie Gives a Hand,' 'Birthday,' 'Bonting,' 'Here Comes the Bridesmaid,' 'Angel Mae,' 'Sea Singing' 'Up and Up' and 'The Lion and the Unicorn.' There is a mixture of colour and black and white illustrations in the book. I prefer Shirley's colour illustrations. I give this book 4 stars out of 5 because although it's got stories that were an essential part of my childhood, there are stories that I haven't read before. The book would also be more helpful if it had a ribbon marker.
