Review: I bought this as an early Christmas present to myself and I love it. I’m really looking forward to it helping me navigate the post Christmas surge of diet culture propaganda and helping me find a healthy attitude towards exercise after years of a difficult relationship with it. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the Train Happy Book you will still be able to use it, though I do also recommend buying that! Love Tally’s work.

Review: The book is a full color paperback. There is an introduction and then 30 days worth of journaling exercises. The paper is thick and nice quality. I thought it would be helpful as someone who is not regularly exercising and wanted to find a way to do it joyfully. However, it’s mostly geared to those who overexercise and need to relive some of the control it has on their life. There are sections on topics like taking a break from wearing a fitness tracker, reflecting on workout rules you have, listening to your body when it asks to rest, building your ideal rest day because “diet culture has caused us to fear rest days”. There are also more general prompts and ones on helping get motivation for movement and other ways to get movement that are not formal exercise. But the majority is for those who need to learn how to rest, not those who want to start moving.
