Description: Over two million people have turned to Strength Training Anatomy for an inside look at how the body performs during exercise. Now with new exercises, stretches, and exercise variations, and with more of Frédéric Delavier's signature art, the fourth edition of this classic work sets the standard by which all other strength training resources will be judged. No other resource combines the visual detail of top anatomy texts with expert strength training advice. Over 700 anatomical illustrations, including 90 new to this edition, depict 231 exercises and variations to reveal the primary muscles involved as well as all the relevant surrounding structures, including bones, ligaments, tendons, and connective tissue. Like having an X-ray for each exercise, the anatomical depictions show both superficial and deep layers and detail how various setup positions affect muscle recruitment and emphasize underlying structures. New to this edition are stretching exercises, safety and injury callouts, and training recommendations based on body morphology. Author and illustrator Frédéric Delavier is known across the world for his signature artwork and books that have been translated into over 30 languages. Now he offers you the most comprehensive edition of his master work yet with Strength Training Anatomy, Fourth Edition.

Review: I wouldn't usually write a review on a topic I don't know much about; for all I know doing crunches has been scientifically shown to bad for your spine, and still this book teaches crunches. I use this book primarily to help with my figure drawing, showing muscles in action, and only secondarily for gym advice. BUT I was really in need of a review that compared 3rd and 4th edition when I was thinking about buying this, and I saw on a forum that there were more people unsure whether or not to buy this if they already have the 3rd edition. To me, it is worth it, if you're not having to save money. This book is thicker, maybe around 40 pages or so, contains all that the other book contains, but the layout is prettier and the structure is better, some unclear sections have been reworded and are clearer now, there are new interesting pages on anatomy, some new exercises, many pictures are bigger now and have been decluttered. It is still the same book, mostly, but I did not feel cheated on the 4th edition, I think it is genuinely a better book now. But you also don't desperately need the new one if you use it rarely, I'd say.

Review: Love the 3rd version and was so excited to see the 4th version would have an image of muscle group in colour on every page. That was why I ordered. Disappointedly, those images are way to small to see with the new colour palette that is impossible (for my eyes) to spot their differences. Great book but will return and stick with my 3rd version.
